The bodies are piled up like so much driftwood in twelve different countries. Our never elected simian promises more aid. The promises ring hollow. The people of Haiti have been afflicted by all manner of tribulation of late within our own hemisphere, and the Dis-United States has clearly looked the other way. Only the immensity of this Indian Ocean disaster is forcing Bush's hand, caught as he is in the spotlight of mega -disaster, in the court of public opinion.

 While the Jangaweed slaughter thousands in the Sudan, the technically retarded Maximum Leader does nothing. Bush's appeals to help the tsunami- afflicted has all the appeal of abstinence in the back seat, on a warm spring evening. Bush has the blood of 100,000 + Iraqi's , many of them women and children, as well as the  wreckage of 1324+ destroyed families of  Amerikkkan service people on  his hands presently.. Bush's new postureof humanitarianism seems so empty, so disengenuous ,so entirely false.

Bush is no Florence Nightingale, no Mother Theresa.

 No humanitarian would expose human beings to the geno-contamination of depleted uranium in Fallujah or the limb- ripping properties of cluster bombs. Bush's ministries are napalm and fuel air bombs. Mercifully shocking and awful.

Off the coast of Africa is a volcanic island called La Palma, in the Canary Island chain.. La Palma, over time, has built a large mass of extruded rock out over open water. This mass of rock is now known to have vertical fissures, hardly a sign of stability  Were the volcano to erupt and dislodge the rock shelf, the resulting collapse would produce similar effects for the Atlantic seaboard that we are seeing now in the Indian Ocean. Millions could die, with only an eight hour warning offered to evacuate coastal cities. Manhattan and Boston don't even have sea walls, let alone a tsunami warning system for the Atlantic Seaboard to rely on.

Our very own  sword of Damocles is already locked and loaded, ready to release a mega -tsunami that would make mince meat of the Tappan Zee bridge and crush the towers of  Midtown Manhattan like so many egg cartons.

Reality based? Sure. Such an inundation  took place in the Pacific Northwest in 1700. A massive earthquake, probably similar to the 9.0 off  of Sumatra, launched a tsunami at the Puget Sound. Waves 60 feet tall swept inland , uprooting redwoods. Such a disaster could be dwarfed by La Palma.  A report in  "Geophysical Research Letters" details a 2001 simulation of a volcanic collapse of La Palma. The report raised the possibility of " Mega - Tsunami ", wreaking havoc across the entire Atlantic Ocean, including the heavily populated East Coast of the Dis-United States.
